A Piece of Senegal in the Heart of Saitama Prefecture
Senegalese Chez YaBigue is a restaurant located 8 minutes away from Kita-Sakado station, on the Tobu Tojo Line. Quite far from Tokyo, the area is rather residential and peaceful. For drivers, some parking spaces are available in front of the restaurant. The atmosphere is relaxed, and the room is spacious, which makes it an ideal place for families or groups of friends. Regulars as well as curious Senegalese visit this little piece of Africa, nestled between izakayas and Japanese restaurants.
The room is decorated with Senegalese flags and frames illustrating the beauty and history of this African country.

Enjoy Authentic and Varied Senegalese Dishes at Affordable Prices
If you are looking for affordable Senegalese dishes, Chez YaBigue is the place to go. The menu is available in Japanese and English. The menu is varied and will please everyone, even those who have difficulty experimenting: non-alcoholic drinks and Senegalese teas, African specialties, pastas and desserts are offered.
The dishes are all freshly prepared on site. During our visit, it was the owner herself who welcomed us and prepared our dishes. Compared to some African restaurants in Tokyo, prices are affordable, with options usually not exceeding ¥2000.

but you can add sugar according to your preference.
During our visit, we were able to taste a yassa chicken, a thiéboudiène rice (Senegalese dish made with rice and fish), as well as a typical Senegalese tea: the ataya (green tea with mint and sugar, known to be a natural anti-stress).
One aspect we particularly liked was the size of the plates. In Japan, Japanese restaurants tend to serve small portions that must then be divided with several small plates. We were surprised and delighted to see that in this Senegalese restaurant, a dish corresponds well to the portion of one person, and the portions served are of « normal size » for an African and Western eye. Of course, we did not do any waste: we happily finished our plates!
Buy Directly Various African Products in Japan
To the right of the entrance of the Senegalese restaurant, you can discover a store with various African products: powdered milk, oils, tea, condiments, spices, and even hair care products are available. The place is convenient for those looking for African products, and the prices offered are also attractive. The products are not available online, so you have to shop during your visit.
We loved:
- The cozy atmosphere
- The affordable prices
- The rich and varied menu
- The home-made Senegalese dishes
- The generous size of the dishes
